Iced Espressos Drinks
When you are tired of drinking hot espresso or just want a change, giving it some ice adds a whole level of flavor. While it’s fairly easy and common practice to have an iced latte, macchiato or so on. There are a couple of things to know first. The first one it’s always paramount to temper the hot coffee with milk, if the espresso shot is placed directly into ice, it will create an acidic taste. Another important rule is to either brew the espresso into the sugar or use liquid sweeteners to prevent sugar granules in the coffee drink.
We created our Caramel macchiato using 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla syrup (already sweetened), 1 1/2 tablespoon of caramel syrup, and 1/2 cup of milk.
Mix all liquids and pour the caramel sauce onto the inside of the glass. Brew the espresso into the liquid and then add ice. You can top it with whipped cream and more caramel syrup.
